In 2007, after an exhaustive interview process, founder Wendi Anderson was awarded the Skidmore Prize for her work with The Giving Tree.
The Skidmore Prize program is a community involvement initiative sponsored and administered by Momentum Market Intelligence. The Skidmore Prize is intended to recognize and encourage long-term commitment to the non-profit sector and to inspire others to get involved. Winners are selected via a nomination and interview process from the following categories: Animals, the Arts, Community, the Environment, Wellness, Schools, Social Action, and Youth. Skidmore Prize winners receive a one-time cash grant, an article in the Willamette Week focusing on their non-profit work, a plaque recognizing their achievements, and a lunch in their honor hosted by the City Club of Portland.
